Writing: The development of symbols to define words did not start until about 5000 years ago in 3300 BCE
Writing was used to keep track of taxes and stores.

Answer: Writing likely developed as a way for humans and early cities to keep track of food stores.

Sumerian City-States: City-States made by the Sumerians, they first began in Mesopotamia.
City-States were very large cities that were like their own nation.

There were many City-States around that time period. They were very big around that time.
