Today I worked on several data problems for Roblox. Using a dataset found at Kaggle, I answered the question (visually), “who are the most popular Roblox creators and what are the most popular genres.” Using Tableau (the free public version), I created an interactive display showing the most popular genres, color coded by most popular Roblox game creators.
To set up the project, it required creating a Kaggle account, a Tableau Public account and downloading the data set. Then the data set was uploaded in Tableau. Once uploaded in Tableau, the genre data was added to the Y axis, while the measurement of Favorites (by count) was added to the X axis. Dragging the Creators data column to the Color Dimension, added the bands of color coding in each bar graph. Mousing over such a band will display an overlay with information on the creator’s name, the genre and the amount of favorites it’s received.
I also added two data parts under the main graph. On the bottom left is a bar graph showing the most popular game creators, measured by active users. To the right is a list of games, filtered by game creator: simply pick a creator in the list to the right, and it will update the list to show only the games that creator has made.
